FAQ
I notice that your soups and pastas have red wine powder or red wine solids in the ingredient list.
What is red wine powder?
What is red wine powder?
Red wine powder (or solids) is simply spray-dried red wine. The drying process eliminates any alcohol content, leaving the true wine flavor and anti-oxidant content!
What is Muscovado sugar? Why do you add it to your soup mixes?
Muscovado sugar is a raw, unrefined brown sugar. We love the rich molasses-like flavor it adds to our Red Wine Soup mixes. We have tried many other products but none impart the same richness as muscovado sugar. The brown sugar found on grocery shelves is refined white sugar with added molasses.

Where do your ingredients come from?
We purchase as many ingredients as possible locally. All of the lentils, barley, wheat and pasta used in our mixes are grown/manufactured here in the Northwest. Our dehydrated vegetables are grown and dehydrated in the United States. A few of the herbs used are imported from the Mediterranean region, and our muscovado sugar is imported from Mauritius.

I am sensitive to sulfites, do your products contain any sulfites?
There are no detectable sulfites in any of our products, and all of our soups, breads, and pastas have been approved by the Feingold® Association, a non-profit organization that helps food sensitive people eliminate artificial flavorings and colorings, artificial preservatives, aspartame and salicylates from their diet. Please visit their web site at: www.Feingold.org for more information

Why aren’t your soups salt-free?
The role of salt is to add sparkle to a dish, not to overpower it. Instead of using salt as the primary soup flavor, we use herbs, spices, wine and vegetables powders with a little bit of salt for flavor enhancement. Unlike most soups (even those considered "healthy") which contain up to 80% RDA of salt in every serving, our Red Wine Soups have 15% or less RDA. That is even less salt per serving than the American Heart Association considers recommends!
